Sometimes I think one of the challenges of designing and illustrating the Book Review is that book jacket designers do too good a job. You think you came up with some brilliant idea and then you look at the actual book cover and you're like, "Crap, they already thought of that." So, thanks all you lovely book designers for making my life more difficult! This cover was definitely one of those instances.
Here's my book review cover illustration for The Goldfinch, by Donna Tartt and reviewed by S. Kirk Walsh. I hope I did it justice, because the book jacket is really lovely.
