I hand embroidered this cover and interior spread for a story by Valeri Demicheva about the best places to get alterations and custom-tailored clothing in San Francisco. It took about a month to complete, and I used at least six complete skeins of embroidery floss! The map outlines the different neighborhoods of San Francisco. Photographed by Liz Hafali and layout by Christopher Fong. Thanks to AD Elizabeth Burr for giving me the freedom to try something like this! Hope to get to do more things like things (but, maybe not for a while... my hands need a break).
