COSMOS!

I was really thrilled to be able to contribute to Light Grey Art Lab's group show "Cosmos." They asked 100 artists to interpret the night sky, and this is my illustration of "supernova." All the work will be displayed in the gallery complete with fiber-optics! The opening is October 30, 7-10 PM and will be on view through November 27.

They've also turned the project into a gorgeous tarot deck, complete with gilding and presented in a lovely box set. You can pre-order the tarot deck here.

The Final Countdown

Here are some screenshots of the level I designed for Light Grey Art Lab’s “Dream Arcade” totally playable 8-bit game exhibit! Dream Arcade is now available to play!! It is more amazing than I could have imagined. The folks at Light Grey Art Lab have done such an incredible job, it’s great to see it all come to life. I’d like to especially thank Chris Hajny for being so patient with me, but also everybody at Light Grey for including me/making this happen/existing in general. It’s super great.
(Also, I got a high score!)

LGAL: Omnibus Treasury

I've been asked to participate in Light Grey Art Lab's latest gallery show "Omnibus Treasury"! Each artist has created components that will be made into jewelry, so wearable art! My contribution is "Space Instruments," different vehicles, satellites, and tools used in space. I'm excited to see the final product! The opening is May 30, so if you're in Minneapolis stop by and check it out! For more information, see their website here.

I am so bummed I won't be able to go to the opening, but it sounds like they have some amazing stuff going on, with a sci-fi book swap and podcast interviews with a sci-fi bookstore owner, etc. etc.

OH and I forgot!  Use this code for a discount at Light Grey Art Lab's shop: ART25 And if you spend over $150 you can use this code for free shipping: 150SHIP

Hell's Pavement

Here are some alternate ideas for my illustration for Station Zero, the vintage sci-fi inspired show from Light Grey Art Lab. I can't share my final illustration just yet, but you can see it at the opening July 19 from 7-10 PM. Over 80 artists are participating, re-imagining awesome old science fiction paperback covers as rad posters. It's gonna be good! Read more about it here.

My book was Hell's Pavement by Damon Knight. The book takes place in a future where every human being is given an analogue, a sort of hallucination of an authority figure that prevents people from committing acts of violence or other behavior detrimental to society. Society consists of a number of semi-autonomous city-states (similar to those in Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson), each with its own set of (to us) arbitrary societal rules. The story follows Arthur, who is immune to the analogue treatment, as he fakes his way through and tries to escape from this oppressive society. He eventually finds a group of other immunes attempting to overthrow the system. I won't say more! It's actually pretty good. Though the meaning of the title of the book still sort of eludes me.

Stay tuned to peep the final illustration after July 19!
